Why do I need etags?
Should you ever misplace your valuables, etags provides a simple, effective and low-cost solution to get just about ANY item back to you!
In this day and age of technology, everyone relies more and more on their cell phone, Blackberry, laptop, iPod, digital camera …and that’s just to name a few! Losing any one of these items can be such a hassle! At etags, we’re here to help.

Why don’t I just record my name and contact information directly on my items?
A homemade ID tag or simply writing your information on an item can wear down over time due to weather, fading and smearing. More importantly, putting your personal information on a mobile device puts you at risk for ID theft. As well, access to specific information may entice a finder to request a high reward.

How do we make it easier?

  • Returning the device is simple and cost-free for the finder, and they are guaranteed a reward.
  • The etags ID tag is clearly marked “Reward if found”, which provides more incentive for the finder, thus increasing your chances of getting your item back!
  • etags ID tags are virtually indestructible from weather, fading and smearing.
  • The etags ID tag/sticker is listed with the etags website and phone number rather than your own personal information.
  • You always remain anonymous. We link your personal information to a unique code that only you and etags will have a record of.

Are there corporate discounts? What if I want to buy a large quantity of etags/stickers?
Corporate accounts or individuals interested in buying large quantities of tags/stickers are encouraged to contact etags directly to negotiate volume discounts. Feel free to e-mail us at sales@etags.ca with information about your company and an estimate on how many tags/stickers you would be interested in purchasing and we will get back to you immediately with our volume discount prices.

How do I activate my etags?
After completing your purchase, etags will send your tags/stickers to you by mail. Once you have received your package, simply log onto www.etags.ca and go to Activate etags .

How do I change and update my information?
Once you set up/activate, you can log into your secure account anytime via www.etags.ca by entering your username (email address) and password. You can then update your personal information, add a new item you wish to be tracked, and update existing items previously registered to your account.

What if I lose something?
Please notify us at www.etags.ca . When your item is recovered, we will contact you and arrange for the item to be returned.

How is my lost item returned to me?
etags will arrange the return of all registered items that have been reported found and will coordinate this process by providing a neutral location for pick up (eg. a hotel or UPS Store/Mailboxes etc) or will arrange delivery via UPS or local courier. Standard shipping charges will apply and the owner will be billed accordingly.

What if I find something?
Notify us at www.etags.ca. We will arrange all the details of the return at no cost or inconvenience to you! Finders are generally not expected to pack or deliver anything. Finders also may leave the item in a designated safe location or drop-off point (such as a UPS Store/Mailboxes etc.). In certain situations etags can also arrange for pickup directly from the finder.

If I find something, will my contact information be given out to the item’s owner?
etags helps return lost valuables without disclosing personal information concerning either the finder or the owner to the opposite party involved. All recoveries are completed through our system and recovery services personnel, and it is our strict policy that both parties remain anonymous to one another.

How do we increase the chance that your item will be returned to you?
We offer a REWARD! Each tag and sticker clearly states "Reward if found". By offering a reward to people that find your lost items, the chances of you getting your valuables back are pretty darn good!

What is the finder reward?
etags will provide a letter of thanks, in addition to a reward to finders whenever they are willing to provide enough personal information to allow us to do so. After the owner receives their item back, etags offers the finder a free ID tag and sticker set so that a fellow Good Samaritan can someday return the favour and get their lost item back to them through the etags recovery system!

What if I forgot to activate my tags/stickers and my lost item is found?
If your account has never been activated, and an item is recovered, a customer database search must be performed. A $59.95 administration fee will be applied plus shipping costs of all items recovered. This $59.95 fee must be paid in full before a customer database search can be performed and the item is returned to the customer.

How long do my tags/stickers last?
All etags ID tags and stickers are usable for as long as the ID code is clear and legible. The tags can be moved from one item to the next easily and you can protect several different items by simply updating your account and ensuring that we have the description of the proper item that the tag is attached to. The sticker adhesive, however, does not allow the etags stickers to be taken off and reapplied from one item to the next. If you are updating to a new model of cell phone, Blackberry or some other electronic device and you need to replace your etags sticker, we look forward to processing your purchase for a new sticker for these instances. To accommodate, stickers can be purchased in singles. 

Tag Tip

Attach an etags sticker to your bike. When stolen, bikes are often dumped shortly after! This will help to identify the bike when it is recovered.
